HOW IT WORKS
How it works
Finpello teaches money skills in short steps. Here’s what to expect, from your first lesson to finishing a track.
1. Learn, then practice
Each lesson starts with a goal, a short explanation and a worked example. Then you answer 5 questions. Get one wrong and you’ll see why, and it comes back at the end until you get it right. Most lessons take about 5 minutes. Try one free, no account needed.
2. Follow a track
Lessons are grouped into tracks: Budget Basics, Credit Mastery, Investing 101 and Banking Basics. Each track has 11 steps:
- 4 lessons
- 2 match games and 2 speed reviews to lock in what you learned
- A quiz worth 2× XP
- A summary to review before the test
- A final test worth 5× XP
See every lesson and learning goal on the curriculum page. Steps unlock in order. To pass a track, finish every lesson and score at least 70% on both the quiz and the final test. You can retake them any time.
3. Earn XP and keep your streak
- First time through a lesson: 20–25 XP, plus 5 bonus XP if you get all 5 right on the first try.
- Replaying a lesson: 5 practice XP, up to 50 a day.
- Match games and speed reviews: 10 XP each.
- Quizzes and final tests: XP for every correct answer. Retakes only add XP when you beat your best score.
- Weekly challenges: bonus XP for goals like finishing 3 lessons in a week.
Finish at least one lesson or activity each day to grow your streak. Days reset at midnight UTC.
4. Climb the leaderboard
The leaderboard ranks learners by XP earned this week. It resets every Monday at 00:00 UTC, so everyone gets a fresh start. There’s also an all-time board. Prefer to stay private? You can hide yourself from leaderboards in your profile settings.
5. Track your mastery
XP shows effort. Mastery shows understanding: it’s based on your first-try lesson answers and your best quiz and test scores. Your dashboard shows a mastery level for every track, from “Learning” to “Mastered”.
6. Earn a certificate
Pass a track and you get a certificate of completion with its own ID. You can download it as a PDF, choose the name printed on it, and share a link anyone can use to check it’s genuine. Certificates show you completed free educational lessons; they aren’t an accredited qualification.
